About coir pith

Once waste. Now one of agriculture's most valuable inputs.

Coir pith — also called coir dust, coconut peat, or cocopeat (informally) — is the spongy, light-textured material that surrounds within the coconut husk. Once considered waste during fiber extraction, coir pith is now recognized globally as one of the most effective organic soil conditioners and growing media amendments available.

Sun Exports processes coir pith by washing, drying, grading, and either compressing it into blocks or supplying it in Pallets. We offer both fine-grade (for potting mixes and growing media) and coarse-grade (for mulching and soil conditioning) varieties. Every batch is tested for pH, moisture, and organic content before packing.

Buyers use our coir pith in everything from large-scale agricultural soil amendment to specialty mushroom cultivation substrate. Its high cation exchange capacity, slow nutrient release, and excellent water retention make it a uniquely versatile agricultural input.

Applications

Where coir pith makes a difference.

Soil Amendment

Improves soil structure, aeration, and water retention in degraded or sandy soils. A standard input for large-scale agricultural operations.

Mulching

Coarse-grade coir pith is an excellent organic mulch — suppresses weeds, retains moisture, and breaks down to enrich the soil.

Potting Mix

A key component of professional and retail potting mixes — blended with perlite, vermiculite, or compost for optimized root growth.

Organic Farming

OMRI-equivalent organic input for certified organic farms. Improves cation exchange and reduces irrigation frequency.

Mushroom Substrate

Used as a base substrate for oyster and button mushroom cultivation. Sterile, pH-balanced, and high-yielding.

Land Reclamation

Used in large-scale land reclamation projects to rebuild soil structure in mining sites, post-construction areas, and eroded land.
